FAQ General

Q. How secure is my money with Abbey International?

A. Abbey International is one of the largest and most successful offshore banking groups. As a wholly owned subsidiary of Abbey National plc, customers enjoy the security of knowing that their deposits with us are fully and unconditionally guaranteed by Abbey National plc. Abbey National plc is one of Britain's leading financial institutions.

Q. Are my personal details held in the UK?

A. Although Abbey National International Limited (ANIL) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Abbey National plc, it is a separate legal entity. ANIL is an independent business with its own range of products and services, Terms and Conditions, and charging structure. In addition, ANIL uses a separate offshore computer system in order to maintain a confidential service for its customers.

Q. Can you tell me more about recent Internet banking fraud?

A. Abbey International is aware that customers of several UK banks have been recently targeted by a new e-mail scam. This involves e-mails being sent to UK customers claiming to be from their bank and asking them to 're-register' or 'reactivate' their accounts. Customers are then directed to a replica website which asks for their password details. The criminals are then potentially able to transfer money out of their accounts.

At Abbey International we have not received any reports of our customers receiving these e-mails. However, if you have received any suspicious e-mails or think you may have revealed your security details in any way, you should call 0845 054 4000.
