If you apply for an account, we will use your personal data in accordance
with the consents that you give us when you open the account.

services, information supplied by you to us at any time may be provided
to companies associated with providing services, for example, agents
acting on our behalf such as card processors, card manufacturers
and market research agencies.
To help us improve our service, we may record or monitor telephone
calls.
Subject to our understanding of local advertising regulations of
the country of your correspondence address, any information provided
may be used to advise you, by post, telephone, or other electronic
media, of any products and services that Abbey International think
may be of interest to you, unless you tell us otherwise.
Any information provided may be used by Abbey International in
providing any service to you and to confirm, update and enhance
our records. Checks may be made with a credit reference agency.
You have the right of access to certain personal records that we
hold about you, as provided under the Data Protection (Jersey) Law
2005. If you wish to

Sources of information
Whilst browsing and interacting with this website, there are several
ways in which we can capture information generated by your actions,
either directly or indirectly. These sources are explained in the
"Browsing the 'freely accessible' areas of the website"
and the "Browsing the encrypted (secure) areas of the website"
sections and we have detailed how and why we capture this information
and subsequently what we do with it.
Browsing the 'freely accessible' areas of the website
'Freely accessible' sections of the website are those that inform
you of our accounts and services. It excludes those areas where
you undertake other transactional services, for example the Internet
Banking Service.
We use Independent companies to measure and analyse how people
use the ‘freely accessible’ areas of the website. They
use ‘cookies’ to gather and collate information such
as the number of pages viewed on the site, the number of visitors
and common ways of arriving at or leaving the site. Doing this enables
us to keep our content and navigation fresh and useful.
We don’t and won’t link any information collected by
these outside agencies with any personal information collected about
you on the website.

you visit a website. Abbey International’s site-tracking cookies

2) Choose the 'Advanced' category,

Information captured when you contact us
Application Forms
It is possible via the website to download, print and complete an
application form. However, no personal details are captured or stored
by us until a completed and signed application form has been received
via the post. If you complete an application form, you should read
the account Terms and Conditions before you sign the declaration.
By signing the declaration you are confirming that you have read,
understood and agree to the Terms and Conditions.
Postal Brochure Requests
It is possible via the website to request a brochure. In order to
fulfil these requests we collect some personal information from
you. Please be aware that your details are not transmitted using
encryption technology and there is a risk of unauthorised viewing
whilst in transit across the Internet.
General Comments
When you e-mail us from www.abbeyinternational.com we will collect
some personal details such as name and address, in order to fulfil
your request. Internet e-mail is not secure so we do advise that
you keep personal information to a minimum, as we cannot guarantee
its security while in transit over the Internet. Do not transmit
account information using e-mail.
Once your query is resolved, the e-mail is stored on our standard
internal contact systems behind our secure infrastructure and cannot
be accessed by external parties. We store this information for an
indefinite period of time in order to identify trends and to track
ongoing queries.
From within the Internet Banking Service
Within the secure and encrypted environment of the Internet Banking
Service, it is possible to send a message to our Customer Relationship Centre.
Although the message is protected by the encryption security,
this facility must not be used to instruct payments, transactions,
or amendments to your account(s). Any instructions received using
this facility will not be processed.
Browsing the encrypted (secure) areas of the website
You can identify secure areas by looking for the padlock symbol
in the bottom right hand corner of your web browser.
Internet Banking Service
Our Internet Banking Service operates from secure systems within
Abbey International and because you are accessing your accounts
remotely we have added extra layers of security for your added peace
of mind.
Prior to entering your logon credentials we take you to a secure
part of our computer system. Subsequent messages sent to and from
this system are protected by 128-bit SSL (Secure Socket Layer) technology.
In addition, we have introduced a 'Peace of Mind Guarantee'.
When using the Abbey International Internet Banking Service
we will cover any losses from fraud - guaranteed. Just as long as
you have taken the necessary safeguards to keep your Membership Number, Internet Login Password
and Security Code secret and haven't deliberately
involved yourself in fraud.
All our online transactional services are protected by 'firewalls'.
This technology monitors and prevents any unauthorised access to
our back-end systems ensuring that ‘hackers’ cannot
access all your account/personal details.

This Privacy Statement is not designed to form a legally binding
contract between Abbey International and users of our website or
online services. Instead it’s a guide on to our online protection
standards – although of course we do consider it of utmost
importance to abide by the principles stated here.
