Foreign Exchange, International Payments and Receipts

 

Our Foreign Exchange Service offers competitive rates which are commission free. We offer exchange rates that you can book for 'Spot Value'* in a number of foreign currencies (see the table below for the available ones). This means that you will know the exact exchange rate that you dealt at.

*The Spot Value date is two working days from when the exchange is booked.

You could use these services to:

Foreign Exchange
  • Exchange GBP, USD or EUR between your Abbey International currency accounts. You would need to have accounts open in at least two of these currencies.
International Payments - Need to send money overseas?
  • Send your GBP, USD or EUR away via an electronic international payment in one of the currencies below.
  • These are the Foreign Currencies in which we offer bookable rates for International Payments:

GBP British pounds HKD Hong Kong dollars
USD US dollars JPY Japanese yen
EUR Euros NOK Norwegian kroner
AUD Australian dollars NZD New Zealand dollars
CAD Canadian dollars SEK Swedish kronor
CHF Swiss francs SGD Singapore dollars
DKK Danish kroner ZAR South African rand

  • For example, you might need to send some Australian dollars (AUD) to Australia. Instead of sending a payment in GBP you could exchange it with us for AUD here, and then send the AUD with the comfort of knowing the exact exchange rate first.
  • Although our Foreign Exchange rates are commission free, there will be a charge for making the payment. Please see our Charges sheet for more information.
International Receipts - Sending money to us?
  • Send us money in any of the currencies in the above table. We will exchange it for you to credit your GBP, USD or EUR account. Details of how to do this are in the 'Electronic Transfers Form'.
  • You can also send us a cheque in any of the currencies in the above table. Currency cheques are sent for collection and can take some time to clear. Please see our Charges sheet for cheque collection costs. Once the funds have cleared we can exchange them for you and credit your GBP, USD or EUR account.
