Q. Will I be able to use Santander branches in the UK for deposits?
A. Although Abbey National International Limited (ANIL) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Santander UK plc, it is a separate legal entity. ANIL is an independent business with its own range of products and services, Terms and Conditions, and charging structure. In addition, ANIL uses a separate computer system in order to maintain a confidential service for its customers. As a result, a Santander branch in the UK may make a charge for the transaction or may be unable to accept the request.
Q. What is the penalty if I want to take money out of my notice account without the required notice?
A. If you want immediate access, a penalty may apply. For example, the penalty on a Notice 90 account will be equal to 90 days' interest. However, there are some exceptions. For example, on a Notice 90 account you can make two penalty-free withdrawals of up to 10%, or one amount of up to 20%, of the balance of your account during a calendar year.
Q. How can I cancel or amend a direct debit instruction?
A. If you want to cancel or amend a direct debit, you will need to contact the third party concerned, as well as informing Abbey International.
Q. I want to send a telegraphic transfer instruction by letter. How many days in advance should it arrive?
A. Please refer to our Terms and Conditions for latest cut-off times. However, provided you have given all the necessary information, your instruction should be processed within 1 business day of receipt. The money should usually be received by the beneficiary bank within 1 to 5 business days. If your account withdrawal is subject to a notice period, you should refer to the account's Terms and Conditions to ensure that you can give the required notice period.
